Women's Health Screenings

Pap smears, and more recently Pap tests, have long been the cornerstone of women’s preventive health care to screen for cervical cancer.

So you might be surprised to find out that a pap test is no longer part of a woman's annual health exam.

During an interview with New Day Northwest, OB/GYN Dr. Jeffrey Bray explains this change, the guidelines for how often you should be tested and answers these questions:

  • Why the change?
  • What are the current guidelines—who should be getting Pap tests and how often?
  • Do HPV testing results differ from Pap tests and why are the not recommended for everyone?
  • How will all these developments impact the number of those diagnosed with cervical cancer?
  • What other ways can women of all ages protect themselves from cervical cancer
