We recommend these resources for current information about COVID-19:
Omicron – what we know today
All viruses change over time, including the COVID-19 virus. The changed versions for the virus are called variants. Omicron is the name given to a new variant of the COVID-19 virus. As of December 2, 2021, there are two known cases of the Omicron variant in the United States – and likely more.
Health experts are urgently studying the variant to determine whether or not vaccines are effective against Omicron. It will take several weeks or longer before there is adequate data that can help researchers clearly understand how well the current vaccines works against Omicron.
At EvergreenHealth, we continue to recommend getting vaccinated (including boosters), wearing masks, and avoiding crowded indoor activities when possible.
To learn more about variants, visit the CDC’s page on COVID-19 Variants.
