Apple Health Changes Are Coming

Federal changes are coming to Apple Health, Washington state's Medicaid program. These changes will roll out over the next few years, and many details are still being developed by the state.

EvergreenHealth is sharing this information to help patients know what to expect and where to find official updates.

What This Means for Patients

Not every Apple Health member will be affected. Some changes will apply only to specific Apple Health programs or eligibility groups.

Expected changes include:

  • Changes to eligibility for certain noncitizen adults beginning Oct. 1, 2026
  • Work requirements for some Apple Health for Adults members beginning Jan. 1, 2027
  • Six-month renewal periods for Apple Health for Adults beginning Jan. 1, 2027
  • Shorter retroactive coverage periods beginning Jan. 1, 2027

What You Should Do Now

You do not need to take action right now unless you receive instructions from Washington State Health Care Authority, Washington Healthplanfinder or another official source.

To help make sure you receive important notices:

  • Keep your phone number, email and mailing address current
  • Watch for official notices from Washington State Health Care Authority or Washington Healthplanfinder
  • Respond promptly if you receive a request for information about your coverage
