Meet the Nutrition Counselors

Veronica Carles De Ayala, RD

A native of Caracas, Venezuela, Veronica became interested in how food and nutrition impact our bodies after she was diagnosed with PCOS at age 15. She majored in Nutritional Sciences at Seattle Pacific University and then interned at SeaMar Community Health Center and became a registered dietitian. Veronica is dedicated to helping and motivating individuals to overcome their difficulties and find balance between health, self-assurance, pleasure and satisfaction. Outside of work, she enjoys hot yoga, spending time with my family and traveling.


Kathy McDonald, RDN, CD

Kathy McDonald has been a Registered Dietitian for 25 years and has worked in both clinical and nutrition counseling settings. She especially enjoys working with outpatients because each client is unique in personality and educational needs. Her approach to nutrition education is to work with the client to make incremental changes in diet and lifestyle to meet his/her health goals. Kathy graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Food Science, and from Mount Mary College with a Master’s in Nutrition Education. Outside of work, Kathy enjoys her children and grandchildren, reading and quilting.


Danette Wickman, RDN, CD

Danette Wickman was drawn to the field of dietetics when her father was diagnosed with Type II diabetes when she was an adolescent. She has more than 20 years of experience in the dietetics field, and thrives on helping her patients meeting their health and nutrition goals. Danette graduated from Iowa State University with a BA in Nutrition and completed her clinical dietetic internship at Hurley Medical Center in Flint Michigan. Her passions in life include her family, health and nutrition, running (5 marathons), gymnastics, soccer and sailing.
