EvergreenHealth, EvergreenHealth Monroe Recognized for Excellent Stroke, Heart Attack Care
The American Heart Association has recognized both of EvergreenHealth's hospital campuses for advanced, high-quality care for stroke patients, and EvergreenHealth Monroe earned special recognition for heart attack care.
KIRKLAND & MONROE, WA — EvergreenHealth and EvergreenHealth Monroe have been nationally recognized by the American Heart Association with Get With The Guidelines® awards for stroke and heart attack care. These quality achievement awards demonstrate each hospital's commitment to ensuring patients receive timely, appropriate treatment based on the highest evidence-based standards, helping save lives and reduce disability.
EvergreenHealth's Kirkland campus received the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus award, along with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite, Advanced Therapy and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognition. EvergreenHealth Monroe has been honored with the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke Gold Plus award with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognition, as well as the Coronary Artery Disease STEMI (a serious type of heart attack known as an ST elevation myocardial infarction) Referring Center Gold Plus award.
"Everyone working across the entire EvergreenHealth hospital system continuously excels at providing rapid, comprehensive and evidence-based care for our patients," said EvergreenHealth CEO Ettore Palazzo, MD, FACP. "This recognition reflects the coordination, skill and dedication of many teams across EvergreenHealth in Kirkland and Monroe, including emergency and critical care, nursing, neurology, neurosurgery, EMS providers, hospitalist internal medicine, imaging, pharmacy, laboratory, rehabilitation and support services."
The Stroke Gold Plus award is an advanced level of recognition for high-performing hospitals. Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognizes hospitals that provide up-to-date, evidence-based care for patients with Type 2 diabetes who are hospitalized due to stroke. EvergreenHealth Monroe's STEMI Referring Center Gold Plus recognition reflects a sustained commitment to providing rapid, coordinated heart attack care as outlined by the American Heart Association.
"We are proud to recognize EvergreenHealth and EvergreenHealth Monroe for their commitment to caring for people experiencing stroke and heart attack," said Steven Messe, M.D., volunteer chair of the American Heart Association Stroke System of Care Advisory Group. "Participation in Get With The Guidelines is associated with improved patient outcomes, including greater likelihood of being discharged home, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates — a meaningful benefit for health care systems, families and communities."
This is just the latest in a series of recent awards and recognitions earned by the community-owned hospital system. In June, EvergreenHealth was among just 37 hospitals nationwide recognized for excellent diabetes care. Additionally in May, EvergreenHealth earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the 11th year in a row. See more of the hospital system's Awards and Recognitions.
