Medical Innovator, Educator Appointed to EvergreenHealth Monroe Board of Commissioners

MONROE, Wash.- The EvergreenHealth Monroe Board of Commissioners has appointed Sara R. Fagerlie, PhD, CHCP, to serve in the At-Large Position #5, representing all residents of Snohomish County Public Hospital District #1 (SCPHD #1). Dr. Fagerlie was sworn into the position on Jan. 16 and will serve through Dec. 31, 2025.
Dr. Fagerlie is a graduate of Snohomish High School and a long-term resident of SCPHD #1, where she raised her family and currently lives with her husband. She brings an immense educational background with Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry and Mathematics from the University of Washington and a Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular and Medical Genetics from Oregon Health and Science University.
"I am dedicated to enhancing access to the important health care services EvergreenHealth Monroe provides to our community as well as equity and engagement between the hospital system and residents of our district," said Dr. Fagerlie. "I look forward to working with my fellow commissioners on addressing critical health care challenges like wait times, availability of services and care affordability to improve the wellness of our patients and the Snohomish County community as a whole."
Her professional career spans more than 20 years, with expertise in hematology, oncology and continuing medical education. As the founder of Cancer Communicator, LLC, Dr. Fagerlie has developed innovative medical education and communication strategies, impacting health care professionals and patient care globally.
Her commitment to advancing health care is further demonstrated through her leadership roles, including serving as Senior Director at Medscape Education and on the Snohomish School District Board of Directors from 2016 to 2023.
