U.S. News & World Report Names EvergreenHealth Among Best Hospitals in the Region

This is the fourth consecutive year the hospital has been recognized

Kirkland, Wash. – For the fourth year in a row, EvergreenHealth has been named among the top hospitals in the Puget Sound region and the state of Washington by U.S. News & World Report. The hospital was ranked No. 3 in the Seattle Metropolitan area and No. 6 in Washington state. The 32nd annual report compares nearly 5,000 medical centers across the nation in 16 medical specialty areas and 17 procedures and conditions.

EvergreenHealth also earned a “high performing” rating in urology and in 10 procedures and conditions, which include: back surgery (spinal fusion), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for the second consecutive year, colon cancer surgery for the fourth consecutive year, heart failure for the third consecutive year, hip replacement for the third consecutive year, hip fracture, kidney failure, knee replacement for the fifth consecutive year, pneumonia and stroke.

To be ranked as “high performing,” hospitals across the nation are ranked on a variety of attributes, such as number of patients, survival rate, patient experience, nurse staffing and how often patients are discharged directly home.

“We’re honored to again be named among Washington’s best hospitals. Recognition such as this is a confirmation of the commitment to excellence every physician, provider, staff person and volunteer bring to the care of our patients and their families every day,” said Jeff Tomlin, MD, EvergreenHealth CEO.

U.S. News & World Report bases its rankings on several factors, such as patient outcomes, patient satisfaction scores and evaluations of each hospital's ability to develop and sustain a system that delivers high-quality care, as determined by expert opinion surveys of board-certified physicians.

EvergreenHealth is among 105 Washington hospitals to be included in the 2021-2022 U.S. News & World Report rankings. In addition to EvergreenHealth, University of Washington Medical Center, Virginia Mason Medical Center, Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and St. Joseph Medical Center-Tacoma were selected as the top five hospitals in the Puget Sound region.
