EvergreenHealth Neurosurgery Welcomes Ryder Gwinn, MD
Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth recently welcomed Ryder Gwinn, MD, to its team of skilled providers in its Kirkland-based neurosurgery practice.
Dr. Gwinn is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon who is board certified in neurosurgery. He specializes in open surgery, as well as stereotactic and minimally invasive procedures for a variety of disorders. Some of these disorders include, Parkinson’s Disease, Essential Tremor, brain tumors, epilepsy, spine instability and trigeminal neuralgia.
In addition, Dr. Gwinn was instrumental in pioneering a host of minimally invasive procedures such as, Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) used for epilepsy and MR-guided focused ultrasounds (MRgFUS) for movement disorders. Dr. Gwinn also performs a number of surgical procedures including, robotic brain surgery, vagus nerve stimulations and ventriculoperitoneal shunt placements.

Dr. Gwinn’s approach to care is rooted in his ability to combine traditional neurosurgical techniques with the latest technology to find the least invasive therapy that also provides the highest chance of success for his patients. He also is passionate about collaborating with each of his patients and their loved ones throughout their health journey.
According to Dr. Gwinn, he chose to pursue a career in medicine because of his interest in the human body, specifically the brain and central nervous system.
Throughout his career, sharing his interest with others has become a passion, as he frequently speaks at regional events to educate medical professionals and patients about the latest advances in neurosurgery. In addition, he participates on the physician’s advisory board for the Epilepsy Foundation of Washington. In 2020, he received Seattle Met’s Top Doctor award.
Outside of the health system, Dr. Gwinn, his wife and their three children love hiking and skiing the Cascade Mountains, sailing and fishing in the San Juan Islands and traveling to Walla Walla to visit friends and taste Washington wines.
