EvergreenHealth Palliative Care Welcomes Diane Dozois, MD
Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth Palliative Medicine recently welcomed Diane Dozois, MD, to its team.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, Dr. Dozois brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and compassion to the Palliative Medicine team. She previously served over 17 years in outpatient and inpatient clinical settings with three years as attending for Acute Transitional Care Service with Kaiser Permanente of Washington, as well as associate faculty for the Geriatric rotation for the Family Practice residency program at Kaiser and associate faculty at University of Washington.
“We’re honored to have Dr. Dozois as part of our palliative care team,” said Aileen Mickey, MD, FCCP, chief medical officer of EvergreenHealth Medical Group. “Her diverse range of skills in community health and clinical settings help us ensure that patients and families receive the most appropriate care and their desired experience while navigating severe illness.”
One of the hallmarks of Dr. Dozois’ care is her dedication to active listening and forming partnerships with her patients. By collaborating as partners with patients and their loved ones, she can develop care plans that center on improving their quality of life while aligning with an individual’s or family’s goals and values.
Dr. Dozois spent the first half of her career caring for patients through the Community Health Centers of King County. Over the last 10 years, she has served a large geriatric population in both outpatient and acute transitional care settings.
Dr. Dozois completed medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine attended residency at the University of Washington-affiliated Providence Medical Center in Cherry Hill. Most recently, she completed a fellowship at the University of Washington in Palliative Medicine. Her philosophy of care is to ensure active listening so that people feel heard and that their values are understood. This helps to inform shared decision making between her patients, their loved ones and all medical team members.
In her free time, Dr. Dozois enjoys camping, snowboarding and surfing with her family. Originally from Hawaii, she prioritizes surfing, even in the Northwest. Dr. Dozois also volunteers at Warm Current, a nonprofit organization that facilitates access to surfing on Washington’s coast for Native communities.
