EvergreenHealth Orthopedic Care Welcomes John Manning, MD
Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth Orthopedic Care recently welcomed John Manning, MD, to its team of providers in Kirkland, Washington.
Dr. Manning is a fellowship-trained specialist in orthopedics and sports medicine. He is board-eligible in orthopedic surgery and treats athletes of all ages and ability levels. Dr. Manning specializes in minimally invasive shoulder, hip and knee surgeries, cartilage restoration, sports and overuse injuries, fracture care and non-surgical treatment options.
He also has clinical interests in the treatment of knee ligament and cartilage injuries, the athlete’s shoulder and biologic solutions to cartilage restoration. Dr. Manning is well-trained in the most modern biologic and surgical treatments, but incorporates a multifaceted approach including nutrition and exercise optimization.
“Dr. Manning brings a wealth of clinical knowledge regarding sports medicine and orthopedic surgery to our health system,” said Aileen Mickey, MD, FCCP, chief administrative officer of EvergreenHealth Medical Group. “His dedication to caring for each patient holistically with individualized treatment plans will add immense value to our Kirkland community.”
Dr. Manning’s approach to caring for patients lies in his ability to restore form and function, whether his patients have a nagging or debilitating injury. He believes in actively listening to each of his patient’s unique health needs since patients know their body best. Dr. Manning works directly with his patients to develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate their goals and objectives to healing.
Before joining the health system, Dr. Manning worked with high school, collegiate and professional athletes with several different injuries. During this time, he received advanced training in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip and knee, and practiced non-surgical treatment options. He has also authored scientific articles on knee and shoulder biomechanics and treatments.
He formerly served as a team physician for the football team and women’s soccer team at the University of Southern California. Being a former collegiate athlete himself, Dr. Manning believes his personal experiences lend themselves to his ability to connect with athletes and understand their setbacks.
According to Dr. Manning, he was inspired to pursue medication because of his mother who was a clinical laboratory scientist and taught him to use a microscope and understand the human body at an early age. Outside of the health system, Dr. Manning enjoys exploring Washington’s mountains and lakes by way of hiking, biking and waterskiing with his wife and their son. In addition to his sports and fitness enthusiasm, he is always working to enhance his knowledge of nutrition and skills in the kitchen.
