EvergreenHealth Multiple Sclerosis Center Welcomes Jason Poon, MD
Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth recently welcomed Jason Poon, MD, to its team at the Multiple Sclerosis Center in Kirkland, Washington.
Dr. Poon is a neuroimmunology fellowship-trained, and psychiatry and neurology board-certified physician who specializes in the treatment of central nervous system-related illnesses. Specifically, he treats patients with conditions such as, multiple sclerosis, radiographically isolated syndrome and transverse myelitis. He also performs a variety of procedures including, botulinum toxin treatment for migraines, occipital nerve blocks and lumber punctures.
“It is a pleasure to welcome Dr. Poon to our Multiple Sclerosis Center,” said Chris Bredeson, chief operating officer at EvergreenHealth. “His dedication to treating the whole patient, understanding of complex neurological conditions and his commitment to compassionately caring for patients, and will be an invaluable addition to our team.”
Dr. Poon was inspired to pursue a career in medicine when his father fell ill, requiring the care of a neurologist. Dr. Poon admired the neurologist’s ability to guide his family through treatment options and the disease course. During this time, Dr. Poon learned how disease can deeply affect families, which ultimately led him to pursue neuroimmunology.
Dr. Poon takes pride in partnering with his patients to help them make the best decisions that help them regain a positive quality of life. According to Dr. Poon, he enjoys collaborating with each patient, as the neuroimmunology field is dynamic, and providing his own insights from the personal experiences with his father.
He recently finished his fellowship in neuroimmunology at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Poon also completed his residency in adult neurology and his internship in internal medicine at the University of Utah. Prior to attending the University of Utah, Dr. Poon completed medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York.
A Pacific Northwest native, Dr. Poon is excited to be back in Seattle because of its diversity and access to the outdoors. Outside of the health system, you can find Dr. Poon cooking, hiking and playing board games. He also has a passion for Deception Pass Classic, which benefits the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
