EvergreenHealth Monroe Employee Recognized with Living Our Values Award

Damien Fannin honored for his dedication to serving patients and community

Monroe, Wash.— The EvergreenHealth Monroe Board of Commissioners recently presented its inaugural Living Our Values Award to EvergreenHealth Monroe’s facilities manager, Damien Fannin, for his commitment to serving staff, patients and the greater community.

The Living Our Values Award seeks to recognize providers, employees and volunteers who exemplify the values of compassion, respect, excellence, collaboration and accountability. Fannin was nominated for his critical thinking, problem solving, constructive and creative solutions, and ability to effectively manage high-stress situations. He also has demonstrated exceptional talent for navigating complex situations, such as caring for patients with COVID-19, with confidence and a calm demeanor.

“Damien embodies our values of compassion, respect, excellence, collaboration and accountability and his dedication to his work is clearly visible each and every day,” said Alice Cabe, Board Chair. “Damien’s compassion for his colleagues and patients during these extremely difficult times, paired with his overwhelming kindness, has made a profound impact. We are proud to honor him with the Living Our Values Award, as he is a respected leader and sought-after resource throughout the organization and community.”

Prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fannin collaborated with leaders within and outside of the organization to ensure EvergreenHealth Monroe’s emergency preparedness and response. The steps he took helped better position the hospital to care for COVID-19 patients even before they stepped through the hospital’s doors.

Awarded annually, the Snohomish County Public Hospital District No. 1 Board of Commissioners seeks to honor an EvergreenHealth Monroe employee who demonstrates the organization’s values each day. Candidates are nominated by their peers and coworkers. Fannin was recognized in a small ceremony on June 2, 2020.
