About Us
Snohomish County Public Hospital District #1, formerly known as Valley General Hospital, was established in 1960 by and for the community. In 2015, the hospital affiliated with EvergreenHealth (King County Public Hospital District #2), changing the name from Valley General Hospital to EvergreenHealth Monroe, and forming a Strategic Alliance between the two hospital districts. Today, EvergreenHealth Monroe is home to a state-of-the art emergency department, advanced specialty practices, surgical services, diagnostic imaging and more. The hospital is governed by a Board of five publicly-elected Commissioners as well as an Alliance Governance Board (AGB) which is comprised of two commissioners from each public hospital district as well as the EvergreenHealth CEO.
EvergreenHealth Monroe is also seeking additional funds through an Unlimited Tax General Obligation (UTGO) Bond measure for a replacement hospital facility. The measure will appear as Proposition 1 on the August 4, 2026, ballot. For more information, see our UTGO Bond Measure webpage.
