Sexually Transmitted Diseases
A sexually transmitted disease (STD) is an illness that has a significant probability of transmission by sexual contact. Some STD's may also be transmitted via the use of IV drug needles, childbirth or breastfeeding. A person may be infected, and may potentially infect others, without showing signs of disease.
There are many types of sexually transmitted diseases:
Chlamydia is the most commonly reported sexually transmitted infection in the United States with about four million cases of Chlamydia every year.
Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted infection that can affect both men and women. Approximately 700,000 people are infected with gonorrhea every year in the United States
