A sexually transmitted disease (STD) is an illness that has a significant probability of transmission by sexual contact. Some STDs may also be transmitted via the use of IV drug needles, childbirth or breastfeeding. A person may be infected, and may potentially infect others, without showing signs of disease.
Chlamydia is the most commonly reported sexually transmitted infection in the United States with about four million cases of Chlamydia every year.
Gonorrhea is a common sexually transmitted infection that can affect both men and women. Approximately 700,000 people are infected with gonorrhea every year in the United States
