Breastfeeding and Pumping Basics

Learn about breast/chest feeding your baby as recommended by all of the world's health organizations. Topics include the benefits of breastfeeding, anatomy, feeding cues, establishing a good latch, feeding positions, ways for partners to be involved, how to pump, pump options, human milk storage, building a supply for going back to work, tips and tricks for success, breastfeeding/pumping supplies and resources.

Class instructor is a trained lactation educator.

We recommend that all first-time parents take this in-depth class to augment the breastfeeding information they will get in their Childbirth Preparation classes and the Day About Baby class.

Breastfeeding Your Older Baby

This class provides support and education for moms who are continuing to breastfeed beyond the first six months. Lively discussion topics include the cumulative health benefits of continued breastfeeding for both mom and baby, cultural pressures, developmental challenges, weaning and more. Included is best practice information as suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization. 

The class is facilitated by a trained lactation educator.

Day About Baby

Learn essential newborn care, build confidence as a new parent and gain hands-on practice in this interactive and engaging class all about babies! Topics include newborn appearance and care procedures, bathing, diapering, soothing, swaddling, feeding, navigating endless options of baby gear, and a baby-carrier try-on session. Already have a baby-front-pack, wrap or sling? Bring it to class and we will show you how to use it (optional).

Car Seat Safety

Learn best practices in car seat safety including how to choose a car seat, use it correctly, and how to install it in your vehicle. Practice hands-on with your own car seat if you already have one, or with a provided demo car seat. Topics include best practice, choosing a car seat, fitting your child in the car seat, how to install the car seat, safety in and around cars, and more! This class is taught by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Car Seat Check & Install Appointment

Learn to install your car seat or booster seat in your own vehicle with the expert support of a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. This Car Seat Safety Checkup will teach you how to use your car seat, install it safely in your vehicle, harness your child in their car seat, or buckle them into their booster seat. Note: Bring your car seat, instruction manual and vehicle owner's manual to your checkup appointment. Children of all ages, welcome!

Fee: $20 (donation suggested per car/car seat)

Infant Safety and CPR

Learn everything new and expecting parents, grandparents and caregivers need to know about keeping babies safe at home and at play. Topics include car seat safety, safe sleep, babyproofing, injury prevention, medication safety, and preventing choking. This class includes an infant CPR and choking rescue demonstration. This is NOT a certification class.

Since 1991, EvergreenHealth's popular Parent-Baby Groups have been providing education and support for new families who are welcoming their baby. Discussions include feeding, relationships, postpartum adjustment, developmental stages, sleep and more.

Join us to share parenting successes and challenges—and to get practical, hands-on information to make the journey a little easier. Taught by lactation and early parenting educators.
