Expert Cataract Care
Inside your eye, there is a natural lens, which bends the light that comes into your eye, helping you to see.
In order for your vision to be as healthy as possible, this lens should be clear. However, cataracts could blur this lens and lower the quality of your vision.
What Are Cataracts?
A cataract occurs when your eye's lens becomes clouded. Typically caused by age, cataracts are caused by the breaking down of proteins in your eye's lens.
This causes things to look blurry, hazy or less colorful.
You're at higher risk of developing cataracts if you have family members who have cataracts, if you have a medical condition like diabetes, if you smoke or if you spend a lot of time in the sun often without UV protective sunglasses.
Simple Procedure, Long-Lasting Treatment
If you develop a cataract, surgery is the only treatment to permanently remove it. Fortunately, it is a simple procedure, and you’ll be able to go home just an hour after the surgery is finished.
During the surgery, your doctor will replace your natural lens with an artificial one. Typically, your vision will recover in days or weeks following the surgery with some limitations your surgeon will discuss with you.
For All Patients
We have two locations, in Kirkland and Mill Creek. You can call (425) 899-5335 to make an appointment at either location.
For every visit we ask that you please bring:
- Your prescription glasses (even if you choose not to wear them)
- Any prescribed or over the counter eyedrops that you use or have used in the past
- A list of all your current medications
At the end of your exam, your doctor will explain the findings, make recommendations, and answer any questions.
For New Patients
Please plan on 60 to 90 minutes for your first exam which, in most cases, will include dilation.
Dilating drops will cause your near vision to be blurry for several hours, will cause you to be sensitive to light, and will cause your pupils to be larger than normal. Please bring sunglasses with you or we can provide you with disposable ones.
We see adults only (18 years and older).
Because we are a medical eye clinic, you should see an optometrist first for routine concerns such as blurry vision or a glasses prescription.
If you are seeking treatment for glaucoma, please contact our office so that we may review your prior eye medical records before scheduling.
We bill medical insurance only. We are not contracted and do not bill any of the vision plans such as VSP (Vision Service Plan). Additionally, if you have Ambetter insurance, please contact our office before scheduling to learn more about your options.
If your primary concern is to obtain a prescription for glasses, you should seek care from a provider within your vision plan network.
