Multiple Sclerosis Resources

A Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis can be overwhelming, unsettling and even scary. But it doesn’t have to be. In addition to your expert care team at EvergreenHealth, below are several national and local organizations that can help you better understand and receive support for your condition.

Multiple Sclerosis Information and Assistance (National)

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society offers education, financial assistance, referrals for support and community resources, and connection with others living with MS through support groups and online communities.

The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation provides educational material and grant programs for emergency assistance, healthcare, homecare, assistive technology, laptop computers and transportation.

The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America is a key resource for cooling apparel, financial assistance for MRI, educational material and safety, mobility and exercise equipment.

Can Do MS offers information about managing symptoms and coping with the impact it can have on individuals and families. They also offer an extensive library of webinars on a wide array of topics.

Multiple Sclerosis Information and Assistance (Local)

Hopelink is a key local resource for transportation, utility assistance, food, housing, employment programs and financial assistance for MS patients.

Sound Generations Seattle Senior Care Services can help provide food, transportation, health and wellness, aging in place and mental health support.

King County Access Transportation offers door-to-door shuttle service for people who cannot drive.

The MSHH Donor Closet offers a wide array of reasonably priced new and refurbished durable medical equipment. They have two locations in Edmonds and Tacoma, and partner with the National MS Society to offer financial assistance when needed.

The Washington Assistive Technology Act Program (WATAP) helps with the selection and use of assistive technology. At WATAP you can learn about, try out, rent and purchase assistive technology that might improve your quality of life.

The Northwest Access Fund – NWAF provides low-cost loans for assistive technology and home and vehicle modifications for those who qualify.

Washington Law Help offers legal information and assistance on a wide range of topics that you might face.

The Pushing Boundaries Paralysis Exercise Therapy Center provides exercise therapy to help you maximize your function, strength and independence.
