Diabetes Management During Pregnancy
If you have diabetes, or develop gestational diabetes during your pregnancy, you have special health concerns. In addition to the new demands that pregnancy puts on your body, you also have to carefully monitor and control your blood sugar levels and manage your diabetes medications.
EvergreenHealth's Diabetes Education & Nutrition Services offers a program to help you manage diabetes during your pregnancy and have a healthy baby.
About the Program
First Appointment
Your first appointment will be 60 minutes, and you'll meet with both a Registered Dietitian and a Certified Diabetes Educator.
If you're not already using a blood glucose meter, we will provide one and teach you how to use it. If you are already using a meter, please bring the meter and your logbook to each appointment.
Follow-Up Appointments
Your follow-up appointments will be 30 minutes, and take place every one-to-three weeks. We will check your weight, review your blood sugar history and work with you to make diet and lifestyle changes to keep your blood sugar levels in the correct range.
Next-Level Monitoring
Should your diabetes need more intense monitoring, you will be referred to the Diabetes and Pregnancy program at EvergreenHealth Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
