Radiation Oncology

EvergreenHealth Radiation Oncology provides External Beam Radiation Therapy (EBRT) and Low-dose rate (LDR) Brachytherapy (internal implant of tiny radioactive seeds inside or next to a tumor for prostate cancer). EBRT uses the advanced technology of 2 linear accelerators (LINACS). LINACS deliver high-energy X-rays or electrons to the region of the patient's tumor. These treatments are designed in such a way to destroy the cancer cells while sparing the surrounding healthy tissue. The LINAC is used to treat all body sites, using conventional techniques, Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT).

Several advanced techniques offered at EvergreenHealth enhance our ability to spare dose to normal tissue. Motion-management techniques and controlling internal respiratory motion of the body during treatment gives us greater control to protect your healthy organs, such as the heart during breast cancer treatment. We also provide the SpaceOAR technique, a minimally invasive outpatient treatment that injects a hydrogel between the prostate and rectum before EBRT for prostate cancer, reducing the radiation dose to the rectum up to 75%.

Surgical Oncology

EvergreenHealth delivers a comprehensive range of surgical treatments for cancer, from progressive da Vinci robot-assisted and minimally invasive procedures to complex neurosurgery. Both inpatient and outpatient surgeries take place at our Kirkland campus, providing you with the most technologically advanced surgical services conveniently located close to home. Your surgeons work with trained anesthesiologists, nurses and support staff to ensure unsurpassed care and support for both you and your family.

Medical Oncology

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center partners with EvergreenHealth to deliver chemotherapy at our Kirkland campus, bringing their expertise to help our community fight cancer close to home. Chemotherapy is a versatile cancer treatment that can be used in combination with radiation and surgical oncology. The medication is administered as an injection or pill, and it is usually given in cycles that may last a single day or over several weeks. EvergreenHealth Cancer Care has 23 treatment suites for chemotherapy infusions. Chemotherapy may also be administered at home with the assistance of home health nurses.

Precision Oncology

Cell and gene therapy is an emerging science that helps combat cancer from inside your body. Immunotherapies and genetic engineering are advanced treatment options that use your own immune system to target cancer cells.
