You or a loved one has received a terminal diagnosis.

You have all kinds of questions. Will I be a burden to my family? Will I be able to manage the pain? Can I stay in my home, or do I have to go to the hospital?  How do I say goodbye?

Hospice care can help.

Hospice care is more than just medical care for the terminally ill.  Much like physicians and midwives prepare families for the birth of a child, the hospice team helps families prepare for the death of a loved one by:

  • Helping families understand what is happening, and preparing them for what might happen next.
  • Working with families to focus on time that is rich in quality, if not quantity.
  • Helping families prepare emotionally and create time for closure; time to say "goodbye" and "I love you."

Hospice care helps patients live as fully as possible until the end of life.

For most hospice patients, this means being able to stay in their homes, in familiar surroundings with their family, friends, pets and comfortable routine. Our hospice team makes this possible by providing expert pain and symptom management, as well as emotional and spiritual support - all tailored to the patient's and family's needs and wishes.

Hospice care is also available at our home-like Gene & Irene Wockner Hospice Center, adjacent to the Evergreen campus.

Our hospice team works together with the patient and the patient's physician to develop a care plan to meet the patient's individual needs. The care plan is adjusted to meet the changing nature of the patient's illness and the needs of family members and other primary caregivers.

Learn More about Hospice Care

A grateful hospice client says:
“I want to thank you for being so caring and patient with me.  You gave me so much helpful information. However, I want to tell you that your listening to me was the most meaningful. You must be asked the same things over and over - yet you treated me as if I was the first one to ask these things. You came to us as a professional and left as a friend.”
