Philosophy of Care

As a family physician, I'm interested in the health of the entire person which encompasses all body systems and emotional well-being. Most often it is the patient who has the greatest insight into his or her own health. It is my responsibility, therefore, to listen carefully and develop a health plan that follows preventative guidelines suited to the individual as well as provide the best management of acute and chronic illness.
I see my role not only as an evidence-based medical doctor but as a part of the patient's health care team which includes needed medical specialists and medical support staff.

Personal Information

I'm excited to be back on the West Coast, returning from New England after living more than a decade in Northern California. More than anything I enjoy spending time with family and friends and the Pacific Northwest is a wonderful place for that.
I was born in the Midwest and incidentally, my very first professional baseball game was at Wrigley Field, Cubs versus Mariners. Go Mariners!

Most of my concerns were handled with referrals. Care provider very friendly and easy to talk to. Just didn't take enough time to exam breasts, or lower stomach area as per my prior experiences with providers, etc. (or pelvic exam).

I didn't really have any problems to discuss. I did bring up the fact that I had not had the Covid shot. I don't consider it a vaccine. It has not been tested enough.

I don't usually encourage others to see the same PCP as me - or at least those I know, this isn't a reflection upon the dr.(s).

Super friendly, but barely addressed my actual medical concern at all and got up to leave before giving me any single bit of advice for how to deal with my pain

I absolutely loved Dr. Abbot. I needed a new primary care doctor, as my previous retired. Dr. Abbot made me feel comfortable and heard and after the appointment I immediately called my sister to let her know what an amazing experience I had.

This was my initial visit with Dr. Abbot. She was friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk to to. What I appreciated most was her willingness to listen and not just prescribe the common medicine for the common ailment. She was willing to work with my ideas for my health and gave me very good recommendations!

She used terminology I didn't understand and never explained them. In her defense, I didn't ask either as we moved forward with the conversation.

she was almost 40 minutes late, didn't even acknowledge it. She also guessed my dosage twice instead of taking time to read. when I brought up the fact that she was 40 minutes late and not prepared she replied with a comment along the lines of she was assisting other patients, I couldn't figure out why I should care about that.
