Personal Information

I chose to go into medicine to explore my fascination with the brain and nervous system.
I grew up in Philadelphia and have lived in Vermont California and Washington, DC before coming to the Pacific Northwest. I've spent the past 16 wonderful years here working and raising a family.
The Pacific Northwest is an amazing distillation of natural wonders and people who have overcome adversity to get here and make a better life for themselves. This has produced a can-do, positive and inclusive culture that I'm proud to be part of today.
We love to visit different regions of the Northwest to learn the rich local history and to get a better visual and cultural familiarity with the community of my patients.
My wife, three children, and I love hiking and skiing in the Cascades, sailing and fishing in the San Juans, and travelling to Hood Canal, the Tri-Cities, and Walla Walla to visit friends and taste Washington wines.

Community Involvement

I have served on the board for Open Window School in Bellevue, and participate the physicians advisory board for the Epilepsy Foundation of Washington.

Fee Dr. Gwinn is an exceptionally qualified and experienced provider showed concern for me, answered my questions and explained pros/cons of procedure in a way I understand. I felt I was part of the decision making process.

He couldn't answer my question & said the test (myelogram) was not conclusive, "you need to loose weight" was repeated by him 4 times. Yet he could not explain what the test showed.

I have waited 4 years to be seen by a neurosurgeon that CAN ACCEPT VA COVERAGE for the L4/L5 surgeries I have been told I need on my low back. This provider ACCEPTS VA COVERAGE and will not help me. 2 other great neurosurgeons that ONLY accept my coverage for an office visit (not surgery) have said I need an endoscopic tears superior surgery on my left L4/L5 & fusion on my right. 4. Back to a pain clinic. I cannot keep going. 5. I wouldn't.
