Personal Information

I chose to go into medicine to explore my fascination with the brain and nervous system.
I grew up in Philadelphia and have lived in Vermont, California and Washington, DC before coming to the Pacific Northwest. I've spent the past 16 wonderful years here working and raising a family.
The Pacific Northwest is an amazing distillation of natural wonders and people who have overcome adversity to get here and make a better life for themselves. This has produced a can-do, positive and inclusive culture that I'm proud to be part of today.
We love to visit different regions of the Northwest to learn the rich local history and to get a better visual and cultural familiarity with the community of my patients.
My wife, three children, and I love hiking and skiing in the Cascades, sailing and fishing in the San Juans, and travelling to Hood Canal, the Tri-Cities, and Walla Walla to visit friends and taste Washington wines.

Community Involvement

I have served on the board for Open Window School in Bellevue, and participate the physicians advisory board for the Epilepsy Foundation of Washington.

Dr Gwinn was knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He presented necessary information and answered my questions In a clear, concise manner.I got him to laugh out loud a few times during my consult. I found this reaction to be a sign of a person who is confident and intelligent - very humanizing, which I appreciated very much.

He showed, explained, & gave my problem a name. He explained so much to us & it verified my complaints. Both my wife & I were finally gained some hope. And we're so thankful that we understood why some things haven't worked. We can't say enough good things about him. Thank you

Dr. Gwinn was so nice! I have had this surgery before, but he still went through the procedure with me - which was a great refresher! He went through the risks and benefits, other possible complications, and recovery. I left the appointment feeling great about the upcoming surgery - and I am a very, very anxious person! The entire appointment was a great experience. With 15+ years of spine issues, appts, and surgeries, I've never had an appointment that went that well.

It seemed like he didn't believe me about my pain. He said the CT didn't show anything wrong but had me do xrays & then realized there was a problem & I will need surgery.
