Philosophy of Care
I appreciate the important work of inpatient medicine because I have witnessed the expressions of fear, anxiety and powerlessness that patients and families experience during an acute illness. Though my primary role is to heal and cure, developing bonds of trust and open communication augments the recovery process.
As a hospitalist, I am a guide for you to help traverse the complicated pathways of the hospital by timely decision-making, coordination with consultants and primary care providers, working closely with nursing, social workers and our many therapists (physical, occupation, speech, etc.), and developing a safe discharge plan. My duties to you are to listen, diagnose, treat, explain, counsel and coordinate all the care providers and support staff.
