Experience

Dr. Michael Codsi is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder and elbow repair. During his orthopedic residency, Dr. Codsi learned how to perform joint replacement and tendon/ligament repairs from the surgeons who invented the procedures. During his fellowship, he spent three years researching the biomechanics of shoulder implants, the biology of tendon healing and the outcomes of complex shoulder reconstructions. That work was eventually was awarded a Cleveland Clinic Innovations award. Since moving to the Seattle area, Dr. Codsi has continued his research on rotator cuff repairs and he helps educate clinicians, therapists and patients with educational seminars. He completed a rotator cuff repair study with 13 other study centers around the country, the results of which were published in two orthopedic surgery journals. Dr. Codsi is also a team doctor for the Everett Aquasox minor league baseball team.

That's why I work really hard to make sure you understand exactly what's wrong with your shoulder and thoroughly understand the treatment plan we discussed.
I make sure you understand your options before offering my advice about which option to choose. I like to think patients appreciate my care because I make them feel confident that they are getting the best treatment that will help them get back to their normal activities.

Personal Information

When not at work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two young kids who love to play sports and generally wear me out. They like to tell people that their dad fixes shoulders and their mom fixes everything else!

My wife and I enjoy supporting our favorite charity Tree House, which is a non-profit organization that gives foster children in King County a better chance to succeed.

Dr. Codsi was kind, friendly, and seemed to genuinely care about me. However, the visit felt rushed. I didn't have much time to process what he was saying to think about any follow up questions. I wanted to know about the problem with my body in more detail.

Dr. Codsi is one of the VERY BEST of my many specialists in the Evergreen network. His style is unique in that he always greets me with a welcoming smile, pulls a chair close, and asks a few questions about, "How's it going" in my life in general, then gets down to business with the reason for my appointment. He answers all my questions in 'plain-speak' and I never feel rushed. Thank you Dr. Codsi!

Dr. Codsi is an excellent physician. His staff was knowledgeable and professional, and the x-ray staff was very sensitive to the pain I was having when taking the films.

Dr. Codsi is an excellent communicator! He listens, explains issues in an easy-to-understand manner, and provides video websites where he explains detailed information about orthopedic issues, and information regarding surgery procedures (if chosen), preparing for surgery, and follow-up care after surgery.
