Experience

Dr. Joseph Woodward is a fellowship-trained hand surgeon, providing care for both elective hand problems and hand trauma. During his plastic surgery residency training, he developed skills in soft tissue handling and wound management. In his orthopedic hand fellowship, he learned a variety of surgical techniques from mentors who trained with the pioneers of hand surgery. This combined training in plastic and orthopedic surgery complement each other in his approach to complicated surgical issues.

My philosophy is one of informed choice. Every procedure comes with risks and benefits, and my goal is to help you understand what your options are in order to make the best choice for your situation. This is especially important in hand surgery because not every condition has a single, clear treatment and multiple options may be presented.
I feel that my patients appreciate that I try to take the time necessary for everyone to understand their condition, its treatment options, and the outcome they might expect before they make their decision, as well as guide them through their recovery.

Personal Information

I was raised in Stanwood, a small town north of Seattle. Following my education and training, I spent five years in practice in Eugene, Oregon before returning home to the Puget Sound area in 2017.
In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing, snowboarding, golf and spending time with my twin son and daughter. My wife, a nurse educator, and I also appreciate fine coffee, traveling and exploring the world of wine.

I come from far away to see Dr Woodward. I have been seeing him since he started at Evergreen in 2017. I could choose anyone but I have decided that I want the best so I continue with Dr Woodward.
