Experience

Dr. Carolyn Kline is a fellowship trained maternal-fetal medicine expert who provides full OB care for particularly high risk patients.
One of Dr. Kline's areas of expertise is in prenatal diagnosis, where she sees women who have an increased risks of fetal complications or birth defects because of a family history. She often serves as a consultant for patients who have - or develop - medical issues which can complicate pregnancies.
Her areas of special interest include prenatal ultrasound and fetal diagnosis, diabetes during pregnancy, multiples, public health and epidemiology, clinical research and quality improvement.
She jokes with her patients that she quit counting how many deliveries she'd done when she surpassed 1000. Dr. Kline is passionate about helping women develop healthy lifestyles for themselves and their families.

Personal Information

I feel incredibly lucky to be a doctor and in particular a maternal fetal medicine specialist. I chose medicine for the old fashioned reasons: my fascination with science and the desire to help others. I fell in love with high risk obstetrics my first clinical year in medical school and I still love it.
I came to Seattle for fellowship training at University of Washington and fell in love with both the Northwest and my now husband! We have two teenagers (a boy and a girl) with whom we enjoy camping, rafting and hanging out. Gardening is one of my favorite off duty pastimes.

Community Involvement

I have done a variety of volunteer positions, many of them to help advance the obstetrical care and encourage collaboration among all different types of obstetrical providers. For example, I have been on the board of the Washington State Obstetrical Association for many years and have recently served as president.
Like many working parents, I also have done intermittent volunteering at my children's schools.
