I was born and raised in South Africa. After completing high school, I went to college and then Podiatry school in the USA.
Outside of work, I enjoy bike riding during the warmer months, recreational tennis and travel mainly to coastal regions.

I found pre-operative discussion and information was good. However I was uncomfortable with what I perceived to be a dearth of info regarding post-op. I wasn't sure what to expect, beyond the obvious (infection etc) and was worried I was going to do something to jeopardize my recovery. I felt unprepared. I am certain if I had asked before the surgery I'd have known, but I didn't. I would like to suggest that the group consider preparing a handout for the pre-op info packet that sets expectations and includes hints and tips for post-op beyond "don't remove your bandage", etc. Otherwise people will all join discussion groups online where there is a great chance of misinformation sharing, to which I can attest from experience!

He shaved my callus, then asked me to sign a form stating Medicare doesn't cover this treatment and I may be charged. No problem for me, but may be for others.

We did not communicate well with each other. I'm not sure why. I felt rushed and there was a problem with getting MRI from another hospital to show in the room. I think that affected both of us. Diagnosis was good, but I ended up leaving with no idea when I should follow-up or how long it would take to heal. The issue has caused other health issues to progress and I didn't get the impression he understood the other condition.

Although Dr. Moodley is very pleasant, the communication before my surgery amd the morning of was inadequate to prepare me to make a decision at the last minute the morning of the surgery as I was in my gown. Not having a lot of expereince with surgery I wasn't always sure of what to ask about my recovery and found the information given to me or discussed was just not sufficient in between appointments.
