Personal Information

When I was young, I dreamed of being a sportswriter, a naval officer and a doctor.  I majored in journalism at the University of Oklahoma where I was sports editor of the college newspaper and also freelanced for newspapers and wire services.
I earned a Naval Reserve Officer Training (NROTC) Corps scholarship and served on active duty as a lieutenant. After graduating from the Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa, I was selected for the first primary care sports medicine fellowship in the United States (at The Sports Medicine Clinic in Seattle).
I have served as team physician for several area high schools, Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University, the Falcon Track Club, the Everett Giants minor league baseball team, the Unlimited Hydroplane Commission, the USA Track and Field Team and as a volunteer physician for the United States Olympic Team (most recently at the 2012 London Olympics).

Community Involvement

I travel all over the world to participate as a physician for Olympic trials in field and track.

I never feel rushed when seeing Dr. Adams. He ordered an x-ray and spent time showing me the x-ray and going over with me the findings. He suggested several options for treatment and we decided to go ahead with physical therapy for four weeks. He then told me to come back after that time & see how I was doing & if not any better, we'd try something else.

Dr. Adams is clearly very smart and has been doing this for a long time. But it was frustrating to try to explain my problem to him because he would ask me one question and while I was trying to answer it, he'd ask a different question. I don't feel like I ever got the "whole story" out or was able to explain each moving piece to the puzzle.

I had not seen Dr. Adams for at least 7-10 years. I had started seeing him in 1980. He still remembered me as well as past injuries.

It really is too early in the process of trying to determine the reason for this most recent problem with my back, to make a valid determination of Dr Adams. I have 20+ years of having problems with my lower back, but just recently three weeks ago had a new development that caused pain in an entirely new area (left quad). I had an MRI done for Dr Adams, and had one done in 2014 at Swedish, which I had given to Dr Adams at my first appt. It might not be possible to determine any change in my two MRI's, but I hoped Dr Adams would spend time trying to determine this. He did suggest a cortisone injection, which I have had. It is really too early to tell if thru further visits and working with Dr Adams he will show a more concerned interest in what is causing this new problem or not. Just a feeling of inadequate time for my problem I guess.

I would have recommended the provider but the way in which the nurse/assistant treated me i will not recommend.
