Board Certification

Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Avi Goodman is fellowship-trained in both hand/upper extremity surgery and orthopedic trauma surgery. His practice includes nerve compression, arthritis, fractures, ligament tears and instability, tendon repairs, and all other issues from arm to fingertip. This full spectrum of care includes non-operative management, minimally-invasive surgery, as well as open surgery, if needed. Additionally, he provides treatment for lower extremity fractures, including hip, ankle and more.

Philosophy of Care

I focus on providing patient-centered care to understand each person's symptoms, ability and needs, especially with regard to their hand, wrist and elbow issues. After establishing our partnership, the first approaches are usually non-operative (including hand/occupational therapy, bracing and injections), before any discussion of surgery.

Personal Information

I'm originally from Northern California, but after traveling all over the country for medical training, I'm excited to call the Pacific Northwest home! Cliche as it is, I chose medicine as my way to help people; then found the amazing niche of orthopedic surgery, which provides mechanical solutions to physiologic problems. In particular, practicing hand and upper extremity surgery allows me to really give people the best chance at getting their function back, and returning to what they love to do.
Outside of seeing of patients, my wife and I (and our rescue chocolate lab/pointer mix) love to spend time outdoors - hiking, biking, running, playing tennis, surfing (poorly), and trying to take advantage of all that the area has to offer. I also enjoy photography, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
