Senior Vice President, EvergreenHealth
Renée Jensen joined EvergreenHealth in May 2017, and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of EvergreenHealth Monroe in addition to serving on the administrative council for EvergreenHealth. She is also responsible for all lab and imaging services for the entire EvergreenHealth system.
Jensen comes to EvergreenHealth from Summit Pacific Medical Center, a critical access and public hospital district in Elma, Washington, where she was CEO. Prior to leading Summit Pacific, Jensen spent seven years at Columbia County Health System, a critical access hospital with health clinics in Dayton, Washington, where she served in several roles: first as a medical technologist, then as laboratory manager, and finally as associate administrator and quality improvement director.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Eastern Washington University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from University of Phoenix. In addition to being a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, she is a Washington State Hospital Association board member and serves on the Public Policy Committee.
Chief Operating Officer
Lisa LaPlante joined EvergreenHealth Monroe in April of 2010 to lead the Quality Division.
Born and raised in Rhode Island, LaPlante moved west in 1993 and accepting a manager position at a hospital-based home health agency in Moab, Utah. She spent the next 8 years expanding the service to include four additional branches, a hospice, and a certified diabetes education program. Prior to leaving Utah, LaPlante managed an urgent care clinic and also obtained licensure as a durable medical equipment provider.
In 2002, LaPlante accepted a position overseeing accreditation at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez, Colorado, where she gained increased responsibility in the areas of quality, safety, utilization review, risk management, and plant operations. In 2007, she became a part of the executive team as the Chief Quality and Compliance Officer.
After several years in leadership positions at EvergreenHealth Monroe, LaPlante was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2017 to focus on service line enhancement and development and overall hospital operations. She lives in Monroe and is active member in the community, serving on the Snohomish County YMCA Board as well as the Snohomish County Leadership Council for the American Cancer Society.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Services and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Chief Financial Officer
Scott Olander joined EvergreenHealth Monroe in September 2014 from Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, where he was the CFO from 2011-2014, and Director of Contracting and Reimbursement from 2000-2011. Prior to that, he was Manager of Healthcare Consulting at LeMaster Daniels PLLC, a Reimbursement Analyst at Providence Yakima Medical Center, and an Auditor at Arthur Anderson.
Olander earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a marketing emphasis from Brigham Young University, where he also earned an additional bachelor’s degree in Japanese language. He’s also completed advanced accounting coursework at Seattle University.
Olander has served as a Board Member with Triumph Treatment Services since 1997 and was a Board Member with Community Health of Central Washington from 2003-2011. He’s also been the Advancement Chairman for Boy Scouts of America since 2013.
Chief Medical Officer
Jack Handley, M.D., is Chief Medical Officer of EvergreenHealth Monroe. He assumed the role after serving as an EvergreenHealth Medical Staff Officer for five years and an EvergreenHealth Emergency Department physician for 16 years. He has also served as the chairperson of the Medical Staff Quality Peer Review and Quality Steering Committees at EvergreenHealth
In his role as Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Handley is involved in all aspects of the delivery of medical care at the 72-bed Monroe hospital, including the hospital’s initiatives to improve patient satisfaction and its work to integrate clinical care with the EvergreenHealth Kirkland campus.
Dr. Handley received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and received Emergency Medicine training at Fitzsimmons, Madigan, and Landstuhl Army Medical Centers, serving eight years active duty. He is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, and is board certified in emergency medicine, and completed the UW Medical Management Certificate Program in 2013.
Chief Nursing Officer
Brenda West joined EvergreenHealth Monroe in January of 2018, and is responsible for overseeing day-to-day and strategic operations for inpatient nursing areas, emergency services and overall nursing practice at EvergreenHealth Monroe.
West joins Monroe with more than 25 years of nursing experience, most recently serving as Chief Clinical Officer in both the public district sector at Summit Pacific Medical Center and the private sector at Prestige Care – a post-acute care organization managing 80 skilled nursing facilities and assisted living communities.
She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in both Nursing and Health Education, as well as Master of Nursing and Master of Business Administration degrees. West has also served as a Regional Lean Six Sigma Black Belt trainer for seven years, and incorporates lean principals into her process improvement plans and strategic initiatives.
