Philosophy
My goal is to provide quality and compassionate patient-centered care. I also believe in empowering women to actively participate in their health care.
Personal Information
My passion for women's health has been the guiding force throughout my life, and specifically in my educational and professional pursuits. Before I decided to attend medical school, I obtained a MPH (Masters of Public Health) specializing in Reproductive Health. As part of my MPH coursework, I was fortunate to have a myriad of experiences ranging from a grassroots reproductive health internship in a remote village in Guatemala, to addressing public policy and education in ovarian cancer in Washington,D.C. These experiences provided me with diverse opportunities to address women's health and further clarified my desire to pursue medical school with a specialization in obstetrics and gynecology so that I could work directly with patients and address concerns of women in all stages of life. In addition to healthcare, I also have a strong passion for technology and am always seeking opportunities to bring technology into my practice. During my free time, I enjoy cooking, travelling, and videography. My husband and I love the Pacific Northwest because it allows us to enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. We also enjoy taking cooking classes together; we recently completed a course in Thai cuisine. We are avid Seahawks fans and also love March Madness college basketball.
In the Community
I strongly believe that a large part of my calling as a physician includes finding ways to give back to the community at large. I work with various community organizations to build awareness around screening for various cancers through conducting educational sessions. I participate in annual medical mission trips where I help women in impoverished communities. My most recent trip was to Central Asia; during this trip, I provided women's health consults, developed evaluation-and-management algorithms for gynecologic issues, and trained local gynecologists and family practice doctors on breast cancer screening. Moreover, I conduct ongoing online teaching sessions with Obstetrician and Gynecologists in other countries in Asia and Africa. Finally, I mentor female youth who are interested in pursuing a career in medicine.
