I have clinical expertise in Preventative Cardiology, Metabolic Syndrome, and Diastolic Dysfunction/Heart Failure.
I perform diagnostic heart catheterizations, coronary angiograms and transesophageal echocardiograms. I also have special interest in cardiac imaging including transthoracic echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac stress testing.

In his early training, Dr. Oscar Gonzalez had the opportunity to work with Emeritus Professor Dr. Gerald Reaven, who first described the silent killer, Syndrome X, more commonly known as the Metabolic Syndrome. This refers to a constellation of clinical risk factors that are known to increase your risk of heart disease. His research work with Dr. Reaven spawned a passionate interest in understanding how we develop heart disease even before we are aware of it.
Life is complicated. Although I am passionate about reducing my patient's risks of heart disease, I realize that we need to make shared decisions given the circumstances that we all face in our every day lives. When I first meet a patient, I try to understand their perspective and understanding of their well being. This allows me to negotiate a plan that is best tailored to fit the patient's needs and current lifestyle with their treatment goals.
In the Community
I recently became a member of our local school PTA. I look forward to volunteering in the various activities that our local school will be involved in this year and the years to come.
