Dr. Douglas Burns is an expert in the evaluation and treatment of spine and musculoskeletal pain conditions and sports injuries, utilizing the most up-to-date diagnostics (exam, radiology, laboratory, consultations) and leading edge/evidence based treatments (medications, therapy, injections, surgery). He coordinates care among a broad spectrum of health professionals, including chiropractors, massage therapists and acupuncturists along with physical, occupational and speech therapists.
Dr. Burns is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and in the subspecialty of Sports Medicine, with experience in both hospital and private practice medicine focusing on musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and electrodiagnostic diagnosis and treatment. He developed the interventional spine department at the Wenatchee Valley Medical Center before relocating to the Seattle area to complete additional training in interventional pain procedures at Washington Interventional Spine Associates. He has performed more than 10,000 spinal procedures including the cervical, thoracic and lumbosacral spine.
At EvergreenHealth Sport& Spine Care, Dr. Burns splits his practice between clinical diagnosis and treatment and interventional pain procedures. Dr. Burns has given several local, national and international presentations on spine pain related topics and has been a faculty member for many interventional pain technique courses. He has also been involved in clinical research relating to the field of spinal interventional procedures, and in teaching physical medicine and rehabilitation residents as well as pain fellows from the University of Washington School of Medicine.
My overall goal is to maximize your pain reduction and functional improvement through thorough evaluation and use of all available treatment methods.
I enjoy medicine because as it's a great combo of dealing with science/technology as well as the human condition and being able to improve someone's life is immeasurable.
I'm a Northwest native, and returned to Washington state after attending college in southern California. I took a year off between college and medical school to teach math and science on St. Vincent and the Grenadine in the West Indies.
My wife and I live in Redmond with our three children, and all of our extended family are here in the greater Seattle area. We enjoy the area's combination of outdoors plus arts, music, culture scene and being around our family. In our free time, we enjoy anything outside - on the water or in the mountains (road/mountain biking, snowboarding/skiing/xc skiing, stand-up paddle boarding, running, hiking, multi-sport).

I'm involved with my youngest daughter's Crossfire soccer team and my son's lacrosse team.
