Disaster Medicine - deployed to the Haiti earthquake of 2010
Family Nurse Practitioner
After 13 years providing emergency care to all ages at EvergreenHealth, I became a nurse practitioner and now see patients in primary care.
Listening to my patient's needs Making a treatment plan together with my patient Minimize impact of illness and injury to return my patient's to their routines and daily living Use medication only when indicated Avoid prescribing narcotics and controlled substances
Medicine choose me; my mother was a labor and delivery nurse and I grew up on the nursing unit. By the time college came around, I felt ready to start a career in nursing. I was born and raised in Redmond and have lived here all of my life except for my undergraduate years. I especially love the seasonal changes we get to experience here. My husband, daughter and I enjoy camping and just being outdoors most weekends in the summer and fall. I'm experienced at SCUBA diving, whitewater rafting and kayaking, soccer and motorcycle riding. I love animals and they seem to find me when they are lost or injured. There have been many times when I've helped wandering dogs home and taken strays to the vet. If money were no object, I would open a small animal shelter.
In the Community
I'm an active member of the PTSA and a volunteer at my daughter's elementary school, as well as a pool deck volunteer for her swim team. I also participate in disaster preparedness and response with the department of Health and Human Services, and was deployed to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake there.
