Prior to joining EvergreenHealth Sport & Spine Care, Dr. Stout was Director of Musculoskeletal Care at the VA Puget Sound. She also serves as a clinical adjunct professor at the Department of Anesthesiology pain program at the University of Washington School of Medicine and at Pacific Northwest University.
I believe every person has a passion, a sport, an activity that makes them feel alive. There may be a time that we face physical barriers to these passions. No matter if it's an Ironman triathlon or simply chasing grandkids, it is vitally important to restore that function and I work to find the barriers and solutions.
When I was younger, I thought my main passion was science and how it is applied to the human body...so I initially set out to be a genetic engineer. However, I discovered my true passion is people and how we interact with science, so I became an osteopathic physician. I have always been interested in spinal and musculoskeletal conditions because that's where I have always felt that science doesn't yet have an answer all of our questions and I wanted to find answers. My passion for people and science has kept me on the cutting edge of diagnosis and treatment in my field and brought me to EvergreenHealth. Seeking balance, my family, sports and the outdoors keep me grounded.
In the Community
Outside of medicine, I rescue and foster/rehabilitate horses from slaughter pens. In my field, I stay active in multiple medical societies to foster my goal of better patient care. I am the Chairperson of the Exercise Committee and serve on the Resident/Fellow Education Committee for North American Spine Society. For the International Spinal Interventions Society, I am the Vice-Chair for the Patient Safety Committee, serve on the Education Committee and am a certified instructor.
