Support Groups

EvergreenHealth partners with Cancer Lifeline, the American Cancer Society and other community programs to offer a variety of support groups at the Halvorson Cancer Center. These groups provide opportunities to meet with others having experiences similar to your own. 

All support groups and classes are free and open to cancer patients, survivors, friends and family.


CLiMB (Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery

Group for:
CLiMB ® is a new support program for children ages six to 12 whose parents are diagnosed with cancer. Through art projects and discussion, this structured program is helpful in normalizing feelings of sadness, anxiety, fear and anger in the children, while improving positive communication between the children and their parents.  A parent group also takes place at the same time as CLiMB, where parents learn and share healthy ways to support their children with coping with a cancer diagnosis in the family. Pre-screening and pre-registration are required.

Bosom Buddies Network

Group for:
Daytime support group for Breast cancer patients and survivors

Breast Friends Support Group

Group for:
Evening support group for Breast cancer patients and survivors.

Living with Cancer Network

Group for:
Patients and survivors, with any type of cancer diagnosis, their family members and friends. Meet others who are just diagnosed, in treatment, or post-treatment. Learn from education presentations and open discussions.

Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Network 

Group for:
Oral, Head and Neck Cancer patients, survivors, their caregivers, family or friends. This meeting will provide open discussions, presentations and mutual support. The group is a Washington SPOHNC chapter affiliate.

Colon Cancer Support Group

Group for:
Patients and survivors with a colon cancer diagnosis, their family and friends. Come meet with others living with colon cancer in a safe and non-judgmental environment to share and receive support. This is a drop-in group, no registration necessary. This monthly group, offered in collaboration with Colon Stars, focuses on educational presentations and group discussions.

Metastatic Cancer Support Group

Group for: 
Looking for a place to be with other individuals who are living with advanced stage cancer? These monthly meetings provide an opportunity to share with others living with similar challenges. This group provides support to help participants express emotions and thoughts that come up when living with advanced cancer. This is a drop-in group (no registration necessary) and is also open to caregivers. If you have questions or would like to talk with someone before you attend, please call 206.832.1279.

Prostate Cancer Network Group

Group for:
These monthly meetings will include educational presentations followed by group discussion on topics important to those living with prostate cancer. Discover and share new information, and give and receive support in a safe and confidential environment. Group also open to caregivers.

American Cancer Society's Look Good, Feel Better 

Group for:
Women who are dealing with hair loss as a side-effect of their cancer treatment. Class provides help with advice for skin care and cosmetic use, wigs and head-wraps. Participants will receive a free Cosmetic sample kit. Pre-Registration with the American Cancer Society recommended as space is limited.
