Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth Midwifery Care recently welcomed Suzanna Avery, DNP, CNM, ARNP, to its team of compassionate midwifery care providers in Kirkland.
Avery is board-certified in midwifery, and in addition to providing care for low-risk pregnancies, she specializes in postpartum care, newborn exams, screening and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and hormonal and hormone-free methods of birth control.
“Suzanna is a welcome addition to our team of experienced and compassionate nurse midwives,” said Aileen Mickey, MD, FCCP, chief administrative officer of EvergreenHealth Medical Group. “She brings a wide range of expertise and is passionate about providing the best possible care, reinforcing our commitment to our community.”
Avery is passionate about collaborating with and facilitating health and healing for each patient in her care. She views each patient experience as one that enhances her practice as a midwife. As a partner in care, she is dedicated to educating her patients in all aspects of their health.
Avery trained at the University of Washington School of Nursing midwife program. She began her health care career in 2008 when she became a doula, which was the first step in her journey to support families as they welcome babies into the world.
Avery is certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives and in 2017, was a recipient of the DAISY Award for Nursing, an award presented to nurses who go above and beyond in patient care. She is also a member of Nurses for Sexual and Reproductive Health, an organization that advocates for comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care for all.
Hailing from the Hawaiian island of Oahu, Avery enjoys exploring the beauty the Pacific Northwest has to offer with her family by way of long bike rides, walks in the woods and berry picking.
