Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth recently welcomed Diego Zea, MD to its talented team of infectious disease physicians and providers in Kirkland.

Zea-Diego.jpgDr. Zea is board-certified in infectious disease and internal medicine. He specializes in general infectious diseases, including HIV, bloodstream infections, endocarditis, central nervous system infections and tuberculosis, among a host of other infections and diseases. He cares for adult patients and speaks both English and Spanish.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Zea to our health system’s infectious disease team,” said Aileen Mickey, MD, FCCP, chief medical officer of EvergreenHealth Medical Group. “Dr. Zea’s clinical expertise and dedication to providing his patients with the highest-quality care proves he’ll be a great fit at EvergreenHealth.”

Spending time actively listening to his patients’ health concerns is incredibly important to Dr. Zea. By deeply understanding his patients’ background, current health status and overall well-being, Dr. Zea can create a care plan that is unique and individualized to each and every patient he sees. Due to his dedication to his patients, Dr. Zea was named one of Cincinnati Magazine Health Guide’s Top Doctors in 2019.

Prior to joining EvergreenHealth, Dr. Zea worked at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and at TriHealth in Cincinnati. He completed his internship, residency and fellowship at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Before beginning his training in the United States, Dr. Zea worked as a general physician in Colombia, South America, where he also contributed to research on dengue fever and the virus Leishmaniasis.

According to Dr. Zea, he’s been interested in the Pacific Northwest since he was a child, because of his love for the landscape and music. When he learned that Washington’s excellent educational programs are some of the best, most advanced health care systems in the country, he knew it was the right fit for him and his family. When Dr. Zea isn’t caring for patients, he’s spending time with his family outdoors, listening to rock music and watching films.
