Award places health system among the top 2% of U.S. hospitals for fourth consecutive year
Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth today announced that it has once again received Healthgrades’ 2020 America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™. The distinction places EvergreenHealth in the top 2% of nearly 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for the health system’s consistent, year-over-year superior clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.
“EvergreenHealth is honored to be recognized by Healthgrades for the fourth consecutive year for our commitment to delivering high-quality care in an environment of absolute safety, while providing an exceptional patient experience,” said EvergreenHealth CEO Jeff Tomlin, MD. “We strive each day to fulfill our mission of advancing the health of the community we serve, and this achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work and dedication of every EvergreenHealth provider, staff member and volunteer.”
EvergreenHealth is one of four hospitals in Washington to earn this year’s 100 Best distinction, and one of three in King County. In addition to being named a 100 Best hospital in 2020, EvergreenHealth has consecutively received this honor since 2017.
EvergreenHealth was also recently recognized in Healthgrades’ 2020 Report to the Nation as one of America’s Best 100 Hospitals in five specialties, including pulmonary care and gastrointestinal care for seven years in a row; general surgery for the sixth straight year; and critical care and stroke care for the fifth consecutive year.
“The hospitals that receive the Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospital Award pledge to provide the best clinical outcomes for their patients,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “Hospital quality varies significantly between different organizations, and we commend the recipients of this award as they set the bar for top-of-the-line care.”
Healthgrades selected recipients based on outstanding performance in clinical outcomes between 2016 and 2018 for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 common inpatient conditions and procedures. Data collected demonstrated that patients treated in America’s 100 Best Hospitals had, on average, a 25.2% lower mortality risk than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award. During that same period, if all hospitals performed similarly to those achieving the Healthgrades America's 100 Best Hospitals Award, 170,783 lives could potentially have been saved.
