Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth recently welcomed Kelly Weaver, MD, to its Sport & Spine Care practice. Dr. Weaver is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and specializes in non-surgical management of spine issues; lumbar and cervical transforaminal steroid and facet joint injections; image-guided shoulder, hip and knee injections; and electrodiagnostic medicine.
As a physical medicine and rehabilitation physician, or physiatrist, Dr. Weaver focuses his patient care on restoring function in people who have been affected by musculoskeletal conditions. Beyond treating conditions of the spine, he also cares for patients with hip, shoulder, wrist and hand issues.
“Dr. Weaver’s approach makes him a valuable addition to EvergreenHealth’s collaborative orthopedic care team,” said Aileen Mickey, MD, FCCP, chief medical officer of EvergreenHealth Medical Group. “His philosophy supports our commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience at every touchpoint while also ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes.”
Dr. Weaver’s philosophy of care advocates that physicians should be educators first, working alongside patients to arrive at a mutual understanding of their health care. He enjoys partnering with patients to break down complex medical issues and identify a treatment plan.
Dr. Weaver also encourages his patients to make their well-being a priority by giving themselves time to be physically and mentally healthy. He says the returns on investment for exercising, eating right and getting enough sleep are improved productivity and quality of life.
Dr. Weaver began his career at Harborview Medical Center after attending University of Washington School of Medicine. At Harborview, he gained extensive experience in trauma care and honed his skills as a non-surgical spine specialist. In 2002, he transitioned to The Everett Clinic where he served in several administrative roles in addition to his clinical work, including director of the pain procedure service line, medical director for the advanced imaging department, and director of the spine physiatry department.
Dr. Weaver is a lifelong Northwesterner who enjoys spending time outdoors with his family when he isn’t with patients. He and his family are avid rock climbers and enjoy snowboarding, mountain biking, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
