Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth announced today that Christopher Bredeson has been named the health system’s chief operating officer (COO). Following a nationwide search, Bredeson was selected for his proven leadership skills and dedication as a health care executive in the Pacific Northwest and throughout the country.

Bredeson, a Pacific Northwest native, most recently served as president and COO of MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, a 375-bed, full-service community hospital in Puyallup, Washington. Under his leadership, the hospital expanded oncology services in partnership with Seattle Cancer Care Alliance; increased provider engagement by 6%; realized improved safety and quality outcomes; and completed a $5 million capital campaign one year ahead of schedule, among many other notable accomplishments.
Prior to leading Good Samaritan, Bredeson was a senior administrator at MultiCare Regional Cancer Center & Oncology Service Line, a comprehensive cancer program in Tacoma, Washington. There, he helped to establish a partnership with MultiCare Institute for Research and Innovation for NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP), resulting in a multi-million-dollar grant; and achieved accreditation for the Center by the American College of Surgeons Integrated Network Cancer Program.
Previously, Bredeson served in executive management positions at L.G. Steck Memorial Clinics, PS, in Chehalis, Washington, and Cogent Healthcare/Applied Medical Solutions, PhyAmerica Physician Services and Columbia/HCA in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Bredeson’s efforts have led to numerous accolades from health care organizations including the American Heart & Stroke Association’s Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus (2018), Sight Life Vision Award for cornea donations (2017), President’s Award for Antimicrobial Stewardship (2017), and Achieving Best Care Award from the Washington State Hospital Association (2016).
Bredeson holds a Bachelor of Arts in speech communication from the University of Washington and a Master of Business Administration/Healthcare Administration from City University of Seattle. He is also a board member of Diagnostic Imaging Northwest and the Puyallup Sumner Chamber of Commerce.
