Kirkland, Wash. – Janna Stults, CNM, recently joined the team of skilled midwives at EvergreenHealth Midwifery Care.
Stults is board-certified as a nurse midwife and cares for all aspects of her patients’ health. She offers full-scope midwifery care and brings clinical expertise in contraception and IUD placement, prenatal care, labor and birth, and postpartum care and breastfeeding. Stults has experience in serving families in both hospital and community-based birth settings, most recently in a freestanding birth center.
“We warmly welcome Janna Stults to our outstanding team of midwifery care providers,” said Aileen Mickey, MD, FCCP, chief medical officer of EvergreenHealth Medical Group. “Her commitment to serving others with respect and compassion is apparent in the way she interacts with each and every patient, which squarely aligns with our values at EvergreenHealth.”
Stults’ journey to becoming a certified midwife began when she completed her master’s degree in public health. The program fueled her passion to pursue an advanced degree in nursing midwifery after she reviewed research showing that high-quality maternal and newborn care contributes to improved health outcomes in communities. As a nurse midwife, she believes her role is to provide information and guidance to empower women and families to make informed decisions about their health.
Stults is an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and the Midwives Association of Washington State. She also has promoted awareness of the benefits of midwifery during the Washington State Nurses Association lobby day.
Stults grew up in Seattle and enjoys exploring beaches and parks, and hiking with her husband and two daughters. She also spends time keeping up to date on newly published research and clinical guidelines in the midwifery community, and attending educational conferences.
