Monroe, Wash. – EvergreenHealth announced today orthopedic surgeon Dr. Joel Weber will join its Orthopedic & Sports Care, Monroe practice, where he will begin seeing patients in September. As a fellowship-trained physician, he specializes in caring for patients with complex sports-related injuries and treating a full range of orthopedic issues of the shoulder, knee and hip.
Dr. Weber has extensive training in surgical and non-surgical treatment techniques, with a particular interest in performing minimally invasive arthroscopic surgeries. He commonly treats arthritis, and fractures and injuries of the ligaments, tendons and cartilage, among other orthopedic conditions.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Weber to EvergreenHealth Orthopedic & Sports Care, Monroe, where he will improve the lives of patients living with shoulder, knee and hip pain,” said Renee Jensen, CAO of EvergreenHealth Monroe. “His comprehensive training in sports medicine, paired with his passion for helping patients maintain an active and fulfilling lifestyle, makes him a great addition to our provider team.”
Dr. Weber’s philosophy of care focuses on understanding how patients’ injuries affect their ability to stay active, which he believes is closely tied to their overall well-being. He is passionate about working with patients to develop individualized treatment plans, so they can return to the activities they love as part of an active, healthy lifestyle. He encourages all of his patients to identify the activities they enjoy most, and commit to taking care of themselves so they can continue participating in those hobbies.
Dr. Weber earned an undergraduate degree in neurobiology at the University of Washington, where he gained experience in sports medicine by working with the athletic training team to care for athletes on the University of Washington football team. He remained at University of Washington for medical school, and later completed an orthopedic residency at the University of Arizona, followed by a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the University of Southern California. In each role, he continued treating elite college athletes for sports injuries and gaining expertise in sports medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Weber enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter and black lab as they enjoy all the Pacific Northwest has to offer, including outdoor activities, the live music scene and various sporting events.
