EvergreenHealth Recognized for Exceptional Patient Experience and Community Impact

Kirkland, Wash. – Last night, EvergreenHealth’s 24/7 Nurse Navigator & Healthline was recognized for its outstanding community impact by Seattle Business at the 10th annual Leaders in Health Care Awards event. In addition, EvergreenHealth was recognized at the event by the Washington Health Alliance, an organization that aims to promote health and improve quality and affordability, as one of the state’s top four ranked primary care groups for exceptional patient experience.

Seattle Business’ annual Leaders in Health Care Awards honors organizations and individuals who are pioneers in advancing Washington’s world-class health sector through excellent patient care, outstanding leadership and thoughtful innovation.

This year, EvergreenHealth’s 24/7 Nurse Navigator & Healthline earned the Silver honor for its achievements in delivering medical care to underserved individuals and communities.

Nurse Navigator & Healthline is a round-the-clock nurse consultation and referral service that guides callers to the most appropriate level of care. As a free community resource, it provides a critical pathway to help remove barriers to care by sharing credible health care information, often accompanied by recommendations for the most cost-effective services, while also preventing unnecessary emergency room or doctor’s visits.

Just last year, Healthline helped thousands of patients avoid unnecessary medical trips, including:

  • 36,019 calls for nurse triage advice
  • 783 unnecessary emergency room visits
  • 1,812 unnecessary urgent care visits
  • 306 unnecessary office visits

In addition to serving as EvergreenHealth’s 24-hour on-call nurse triage line, Healthline serves an equally important purpose by connecting community members to health education resources and programs. In 2016, Healthline served tens of thousands of patients in the following ways, as well:

  • 4,908 physician referrals
  • 22,567 residents and employees registered for community classes offered at EvergreenHealth
  • 9,863 residents received referrals for community services

At the Leaders in Health Care Awards ceremony, the Washington Health Alliance debuted its latest report, Your Voice Matters: Patient Experience with Primary Care in Washington State, in which EvergreenHealth’s 11 primary care practices scored above average in all patient experience indicators, placing them among just three other primary care groups in the state to earn this honor.

The organization was one of only two providers in the Puget Sound region to outscore the state average in all five survey measures that go into the “Patient experience at the doctor’s office” score, which includes:

  • Getting timely appointments, care and information
  • Helpful, courteous and respectful office staff
  • How well providers communicate with patients
  • How well providers coordinate care
  • Patient’s overall rating of the provider
