Kirkland, Wash. – EvergreenHealth is pleased to announce that Dr. Diego Lopez de Castilla has joined the Kirkland-based health system’s Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine practice. Recent national efforts have encouraged people born between 1945 and 1965 to get tested for hepatitis C, as people born during this time are five times more likely than other adults to be infected with the disease, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“Many people who have hepatitis C may not know they are infected, which can lead to cirrhosis of the liver and other potentially fatal health concerns if left untreated. Treatment options are available if the disease is identified, and I am passionate about encouraging people to get tested,” said Dr. Lopez de Castilla, who has successfully treated more than 100 individuals living with chronic hepatitis C. He attributes their positive outcomes, in part, to providing individualized care to each patient and developing treatment plans that best fit the patient’s specific needs.

In his previous role, Dr. Lopez de Castilla served as a physician of internal medicine and infectious disease at the University of Washington. He is board certified in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine and received his medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons.

EvergreenHealth Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious disease and preparation for safe travel abroad. Its physicians have traveled extensively and served on medical trips in remote areas, and are considered experts in travel medicine and foreign infectious disease. The practice offers superior hepatitis C treatment, and is committed to helping patients return to their best possible health by treating the virus that causes hepatitis C.
