After Treatment Care for Breast Cancer

Continued support

Your nurse navigator's support doesn’t stop when your treatment ends.

She will provide you with resources on living after breast cancer treatment, and give you information on healthy lifestyle changes to help avoid a recurrence.

You'll also have your navigator's phone number and email, so you can ask questions or if you just need to talk.

Survivorship plan

They’ll also provide you with a survivorship care plan. This document is a comprehensive summary of your treatment, start and stop dates, names of chemotherapy drugs used and all of your provider information.

This is a great summary to give to your primary care provider for your medical record and to keep on hand should you need to see a doctor while traveling. Instead of trying to remember your treatment details, it’ll all be in your survivorship care plan document.

Breast reconstruction surgery

With your treatment complete, you might be considering breast reconstruction. Your nurse navigator can refer you to a breast reconstruction surgeon.

There are two types of breast reconstruction:

  • breast reconstruction with natural tissue
  • breast reconstruction with implants

Our surgeons can help you determine the right option for you. If you decide you don't want breast reconstruction surgery, your breast cancer nurse navigator can help you with the process of prosthetics.
